Dramatic, Close-Up View of Giant Ice Island Broken Free of Glacier

NASA's satellite image captures the massive ice block as it moved away from the glacier in Greenland

The ice island that broke off the Petermann Glacier. (NASA)

A massive ice island bigger than Manhattan broke free of the Petermann Glacier in Greenland in July, and began drifting away from the floating ice mass. NASA's satellite captured the aftermath of the event in this image from July 21, showing the iceberg as it continued its journey. According to NASA, the image has been rotated so north is toward the right.

Just two years ago, another ice island cleaved off the Petermann Glacier, measuring a whopping four times the size of Manhattan.

Personally I'm too old to give a crap. It's not going to destroy the world in the next ten years. And besides that, I live in the Midwest at a couple hundred feet above sea level. Good luck to the peole in The Carolinas and Florida.

Just remember, that it is not the fact that another piece of the Peterson Glacier broke off.........When this happens we usually we find something that has been hidden for centuries.........It's all that fresh water deposited in to the Oceans........The Oceans do not like fresh water, at all........Could start a mini ice age, and very one was scared of Global Warming.........Ha.....
