It really is a beautiful volcano. It'd be a shame if it erupted. Mt. St. Helen's was pretty too - but now it's rather a shambles. So close to Tokyo and seen from many angles from the city - with all the seismic activity and the earthquake making the tsunami - as with all tectonics - if a plate grinds against another plate - the pressure creates viscous rock and it has to go somewhere. Another tragedy for Japan would be a horrible event. Off gassing and pressure build up aren't good signs that's for sure.
