Man Endures Incredible Walk to Volcano's Fiery Edge
The volcanologist faced the searing heat of an active Vanuatu volcanoWearing a special breathing apparatus and heat-proof proximity suit, volcanologist Geoff Mackley walked to the edge of Marum Volcano's lava lake on Ambrym Island, Vanuatu. Mackley came within 100 feet of the lava, but could stand the searing heat for only six seconds.
