Photos: Fires, Flooding Devastate New York Neighborhood

Flames and high water leave little more than debris in Breezy Point

By SKYE Editors Oct 31, 2012

This aerial photo shows burned-out homes in the Breezy Point section of the Queens borough New York after a fire on Tuesday. The tiny beachfront neighborhood was told to evacuate before Sandy hit New York, and then burned down as it was inundated by floodwaters.

A quaint corner of the Rockaways has now been transformed into a smoke-filled debris field.

It is amazing to see some of the houses that did not burn surrounded by two or three totally burned out homes. Sad to see such devastation that these nice people have to endure.

God has nothing to do with the weather.

You all might be interested in the book, "The Harbinger", by Jonathon Cahn; it provides a very eye opening and thought-provoking view on your discussion of God's involvement in this. I strongly encourage you, God-fearing, or not, to check it out.

As a Christian, I am appalled by the thought that God caused this destruction intentionally and you would blame ordinary people for this misery in their lives. My God is not vengeful. He is the God who is inspiring us to help everyone touched by this calamity, not because we expect anything in return, but because it is the right and decent thing to do.

People, please help your neighbors. They need help. Get together to help relieve the burden of the storm. Be neighborly at a time of need.

See that statue of the Holy Mother...the ONLY thing that survived all that devastation! May God have mercy on all who were affected by the fires...and bless the Mayor, fire fighters and anyone who tried to help!

Critical thinking skills are not required to be religious.

As a matter of fact, they just get in the way.

I agree with Seefeld4. The people that are in peril now are the ones that have helped all the sports players, movie and TV stars, Newspapers and magazines and so on make thier fortunes. It is not only the gov'ts duty to help rebuild but theirs to pay it forward and give back some of what they have. After all, it will be a tax write off if they are chincy enough to claim it.

If all the Hollywood Stars who gain their fortunes off these kind of folks, and pro sports players and TV and media super stars would all get off their wallets and donate, it would show an awesome display of payback and responsibility toward the US. The job belongs to ALL of us, not just the gov't.

So, so sad any time but more so with the holidays approaching. Hope the gov't can help out!

I feel so bad for those people.

Why don't Baseball Players, Donald Trump,Singers, Hollywood Stars, and my "favorite" rappers like Lil John help people with some money in the North East????
