Quadriplegic Jesse Billauer surfs independently for the first time in 15 yearsJesse Billauer suffered a spinal cord injury while surfing in 1996, leaving him wheelchair-bound and with limited use of his arms and hands. Now, for the first time in 15 years, he's able to surf practically independently, without the aid of multiple friends. Using a WaveJet electronic surfboard, Jesse catches waves by himself, using his teeth to push a button that controls the board's motor. "That board just changed my life forever," he says. "It's just mind boggling."
