Blizzard of 93 Me and a friend were doing volunteer work on Mt. Mitchell State Park, March 113, or 14th, when the blizzard hit, and we got stranded up their. By the time it was all finished on the 18th, there was 56 inche's of snow, plus fifteen foot drifts. Still one of the biggest snowfalls in recent memory, although the winter of 77 did come close.

March 05 2013 at 9:42 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHi, Down in Florida remembering 1966 storm. People were cross countrky skiing on Addison Street in Chicago. Few knew about cross country skiing then. People helped each other with food and milk supplies. Had a one year old baby then and he loved just looking out the picture window in our 2nd floor two flat window. Good memories. For those who were stranded getting home, I am sure not the same kind of memory! Many were out all night trying to get home. Hope it isn't that bad and now people know to leave work early when a storm is a threat..

February 22 2013 at 12:36 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyI surely remember the '67 blizzard in Chicago. We lived in a brick two story house and the snow was half-way up the front room windows, our garbage cans were completely covered and you could only see the top third of our garage.

February 21 2013 at 6:04 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downLove It, can't wait....living in Omaha now, but nothing beats the blizzard in Ohio and Michigan (was living there at the time) of 1978, living in Mi in a basement apt, with huge front windows and the snow covered all that and higher, so it looked like midnight anytime of the day for a week!! It always brings out the best in people!!!
