Internet Users Lash Out at Punxsutawney Phil

The groundhog predicted an early spring, but winter conditions persist in many areas

When Punxsutawney Phil popped his furry little head out of his Pennsylvania hole on Feb. 2, 2013, there was no shadow to be seen. News quickly spread across the country: Spring would come early this year.

But here we are, six weeks later, and much of the U.S. is still deep in the throes of winter. It seems Phil really messed up -- and people aren't pleased.

Click through for a look at Internet users' take-no-prisoners response.

At left, Randy Bish tweeted this comic on March 21 and wrote, "My cartoon: Springtime in Punxsutawney #killthegroundhog #groundhog #Punxsutawney pic.twitter.com/2VyWWe6vfz"

It's a damn rodent, the human being can be the dumbest creature sometimes.
who ever thought of the idea of looking for answers for the weather from a groundhog is a moron. and this guy the Ohio Prosecutor Seeks Death Penalty for Famous Groundhog is a F***ing jackass. L Velasquez Totino and k.skarin couldn't of said it any better.

Groundhog soup is normally strong , and has a pungent smell. I normally recommend "stewing" in lemon juice with onions and green peppers.

Phil didn't say a word. His handlers said it would be an early Spring. They didn't contradict not seeing a shadow, so they are to blame!! Not poor Phil.

If anyone is to blame it is Phil's handlers. Phil didn't say a thing, his handlers didn't see their shadows either and they said it would be an early Spring. Not Phil.

Groundhog soup is very nice, but you must use chicken broth, and fresh carrots and celery. Onions are optional.

I feel that Phil is already a prisoner of this club. A pawn in this uncaring game they like to play every Feb. 2nd. He is awaken early every year just to amuse a bunch of humans. I feel he is paying a debt everyday already.

The best part is the hind quarter. There is some breast meat, but it is somewhat difficult to retrieve. The suggested method would be to soak over-night in a egg and milk mixture. I prefer using saltines crackers as a coating. Pan fry on each side for 5 minutes. Transfer to a preheated (400) for 90 minutes. Serve with cole-slaw.
