Watch: Meat Cooks on Shanghai Sidewalk in Heat Wave

See what happens when locals try to cook pork
Over 10 Dead As Record Heatwave Hits Shanghai
What's the best way to gauge summer heat? Why, cooking on the sidewalk, of course. When temperatures rise in the U.S., people always attempt to fry eggs on pavement. (Yawn.) Forecasters got a little more creative in Phoenix, Ariz., recently and baked chocolate chip cookies in a van. (Yum?)

In Shanghai, with temperatures topping 100 degrees Wednesday, shattering heat records going back 140 years, a local news station tried to cook pork on a slab of marble. Watch to see how it turned out.

That's the strangest looking piece of pork I've ever seen. DNA analysis requested .

Isn't that the way they normally cook their food?

that is just too nasty (like cooking an egg on the sidewalk in texas) but at least they didn't chase it down (rodent or very large critter from the spider family) step on it kill it and then toss it on the sidewalk at 11:59 during the hottest time of day.

not a big deal to cook food on a sidewalk or inside of a vehicle - back in the 'old days' people used to put together such things as a meat loaf in a covered bread pan, wire it to the engine and drive an hour to relatives and the meat loaf was cooked.

Say NO to libs!

Incredible! I hate being in any temp over 75. I'd be out of my mind in that kind of heat. Praying hard for relief for those poor folks!

There are so many racist people making comments (on this article and others) that it scares and embarrasses me.
