Watch: Tornado Rips Through Field as Man Prays

Tornadoes tore through Midwest, killed 6 in Illinois

Tornadoes Leave Nothing but Grief Across Midwest
Dozens of tornadoes tore through the Midwest on Sunday, Nov. 17, killing 8 people. In this amateur video, a tornado sweeps across a field in Washington, Ill., engulfing everything in its path. Meanwhile, from indoors, a man recites the lord's prayer, hoping for survival.

The video was shot Sunday during one of the many tornadoes that ripped through Illinois and Indiana. In Washington, Ill., foundations where homes once stood now lay barren. Elsewhere, cars are overturned among scattered debris in flattened neighborhoods.

I won't judge that man for praying nor those who chose to make disparaging remarks. But I can guarantee that at some place in your life you will cry out to God.

Its funny how society is nowadays. had this man been praying to the devil or some goat in the mountains of China all would have hailed him as sane. but he prays to God and people start bashing. not sure how people have made their point of not hating with such angry comments.

It refreshing in horrible times like this we don't see people carry plasma TV's over their heads and looting their neighbors like we witnessed in KATRINA!

Yeah, we're a bit different here in the Midwest, thanks for noticing, there was no looting. Neighbors protect and assist their neighbors in need.

The Beatitudes
…10"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12"Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

If that makes you feel better than more power to you. Stay out of the science lab where real truth is discovered and shared...

Seeking shelter prior to praying might have been a prudent idea.

It's so funny how the comments become about God - for or against - instead of the destruction of property, and human suffering. Imagine, if you can put your hate away for a moment, what these people are going through. Where are they going to sleep, eat, bathe, get out of the cold and on and on. The tornadoes hit all around me and all I lost was electricity for 10 hours, but I have empathy for these people and stooping to arguing over religion is pretty stupid. Use your time more wisely and find out what you can do to help these newly homeless people.

To all who are bashing this guy for praying, you are ignorant and envious of people who believe in God, when you can't even believe in yourself. Idiots like you are the reason why this country is in the shape it is.

I would not "bash" him for praying, but he should first have found someplace safer.

Right. A humbling moment. This man prayed and the tornado didn't hit him. I guess those who were killed weren't praying. I'm not sure how we'd know that but it must be true since they died. Or maybe they weren't true believers...or they had some kind of trait that God doesn't like. It couldn't be a random thing.
