Seconding the comment above of "roborose2005. It is very disturbing to families of our beloved pets, contributing to an industry in 100s of Billions a year to find this very relevant topic of "cold" and "pets" so casual. The video is not only LOW, the "point person" speaking too fast, but whom ever created the "video," at least DID INCLUDE THE IDIOTS WALKING DOGS THROUGH SNOW WITHOUT BOOTS!

Dog Breeders across the country are under attack as if engaged in "unsavory conduct." Their "products," puppies grow to be home companions for youths, adults, and senior citizens, as well as the disabled, blind, those impacted by life threatening conditions that can be detected by their guide dogs. Then there are those of US Military, Police Departments, Border Security, etc.

The fanatics of PETA, "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals," founded by Ingrid Newkirk who questions why "humans" want to "breed" children, suggests herself a "nut case," and this organization euthanizes 95% of "pets" they claim to rescue. The US Humane Society has not connection to the US Govt; it spokesman, Wayne Pacelle publicly stated his objective to eliminate "pets?" And these "groupies" have attacked "breeders" as perpetrators of "puppy mills," and without the intellectual discourse warranted when there are demands for mandated spay/neuter; where would "puppies" come from? And in that vein, it is readily obvious when pursuing a "new member of the family," of "the furry ethnicity," that they are not in the produce section of your local supermarket, not akin to a "head of lettuce," and responsible families take great care to investigate Quality Breeders. Laws now enacted to "regulate" those "breeders," are part and parcel to the PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNIONS that would impose "regular inspections," codify the irrelevant and ineffective and yet costly, arbitrary, and dysfunctional "rules of operation."

Consider a 24 x 7 demand for development and nurturing of "puppies," the upfront costs to Quality Breeders, inclusive of skilled veterinary tests to monitor health, inclusive of ultra-sound diagnostics; this is why pedigree dogs with AKC registration are far more expensive when carrying proof of physical conditions and scientific clearances. These families are unlikely to require "reminders" to keep their "furry one" warm and safe; irreplaceable as they are.

Rock salt can burn their pads so it is a good idea to put boots on them or at least wash their paws off after a walk

The commentator on the dog segment spoke so fast and slurred her words, it's a good thing I didn't need her advice. She also doesn't address the difference between breeds such as short haired dogs which are double coated (retrieving dogs like lab, herd driving dogs like smooth collies), and coarse coated dogs like wire-haired fox terriers. These dogs don't need protection as much as a doberman, smooth fox terrier or chihuahua. The best rule if you're not sure: if your dog shivers, it needs a coat.
