Think BASE jumping and sky diving are extreme? Wingsuit flyers make equally daring high-altitude jumps, but wear specially designed jumpsuits that allow them to glide through the air. The wingsuit, alternatively called a birdman suit, flying squirrel suit and bat suit for obvious reasons, has wing-like fabric between the legs as well as connecting both arms to the body. Photographer Richard Gottardo spent the winter camping out in Revelstoke, British Columbia, hoping to photograph the aurora borealis over the Rocky Mountains. He finally captured the phenomenon on April 13, 2013 -- just days before he was set to leave. While waiting for the northern lights, Gottardo turned his attention to creating images of star trails.
