Torrential rains bore down on the Philippines on Tuesday and Wednesday, with deadly floods claiming at least 16 lives. The capital city of Manila recorded 34 inches of rain in 72 hours. Over the same period, some outlying areas saw as many as 39 inches. More than 780,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes, and schools and government offices are closed to make way for relief efforts. Click through for photos of the damage.
